The Charlotte Observer
Who done it
Malcolm Melee was a penny-pinching winery owner who according to some
reports wouldn't sell his vineyard to Milt Mart.Did that mean he deserved to
die? Someone thought so. Melee was killed at a party, and it was up to me
and about 80 other patrons at Palomino restaurant to figure out who
killed Melee. As usual, I ended up at the rowdy table for Sunday's murder
mystery dinner at the restaurant on North Tryon Street uptown. I sat with a
bartender who worked there, a young couple and a couple from Pennsylvania
who were celebrating their 29th wedding anniversary with their daughter who
lives in Charlotte. After several beers, mojitos and other mixed drinks our
table was ready to snag a killer.
All of us were expecting something like the movie "Clue" with
people acting out scenes, but the murder mystery at Palomino by About
Town Tours wasn't quite like that. OK, it wasn't close, but we did have
fun.
Each of the eight suspects gave statements about where they were and what
they were doing when Melee was killed. Then each suspect visited the tables
to be interviewed by the diners.
Our table was merciless. Our main question was who was sleeping with the
victim, and then who was the suspect sleeping with. Needless to say we
didn't guess the murderer. We thought we had it figured out: The wine critic
did it because Melee knew she was fabricating stories. (She gave the media a
bad name).
If you want to try a mystery theater yourself, the next one by About Town
Tours is May 23 at Lava Java in the University area. About Town plans
to do mystery dinners at Palomino on first Sundays this summer.
 | 11/10/2006 - The About Town Tours'

Rising, AM TV program in Charlotte, NC. We had 6 actors in costume introducing themselves in
character. I was interviewed by Beth Troutman. It was an amazing
experience and great exposure for us. Thanks WCCB Fox 18 in Charlotte,
